Itinerary of the Sahara Tour from Casablanca

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

The Sahara Tour from Casablanca starts! In Casablanca, you will be picked up from the airport, the port, or your lodging. Casablanca is Morocco’s largest and most important city.

The Hassan II mosque, which is the biggest mosque in Morocco, will be our first stop. It is situated on the western fringes of the city. It is situated on a cliff with a view of the Atlantic Ocean. After lunch, we’ll take a city tour and pause at Casablanca’s well-known beach. Your first night will be spent at a local hotel.

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

We leave for Rabat, the nation’s capital, after breakfast. Rabat was one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Then, you will be shown the city’s famous landmarks, such as the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya.

After lunch, we will traverse Ouazzane to get to Chefchaouen, also known as the Blue Town, which is located in the Rif Mountains. The city is well known for its white and blue-painted streets and houses. Spend the night somewhere else.

Day 3: Chefchaouen City Tour

After breakfast, we’ll visit Chefchaouen, also called Achaoun—the Berber word for “horns”—and the “blue city.” The city is situated in the Rif Mountains in northwest Morocco. It is highly renowned for its roads and buildings that are painted white and blue.

We’ll begin by taking a trip around its stunning, old Medina, which features many wonderful, authentic blue doors and whitewashed buildings. You may hike to the Spanish mosque in the afternoon after lunch, which is located on high ground and provides a stunning perspective of the whole blue city. Go to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 4: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, wander through Chefchaouen’s picturesque lanes. We’re going to Volubilis to look at the ancient Roman ruins. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has undergone careful preservation. It features earlier pillars and archways as well as some exquisite mosaics that are dispersed throughout.

We tour the ruins, then take a 30-minute journey to Meknes. The town is regarded as the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco’s imperial towns. The Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahry Souant basin, the Royal stable, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum are a few of the places we visit. We’ll arrive in Fes by the evening, and you’ll spend the night at a Riad.

Day 5: Fes City Tour

We’ll have a guided tour of Fes as part of our Sahara Tour from Casablanca. Fes is a Moroccan imperial city and a center of culture. To get started, we move to the Royal Palace entrance. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the well-preserved medieval Medina is another draw. You must go via the Blue Gate, sometimes referred to as Bab Boujloud, in order to access the old Medina.

Discover the Madrasa Bouanania, the Najarine fountain, and the tanneries. We visit Quaraouiyin, home to the oldest mosque and university in the world. After that, we’ll travel to the “Mellah” from Medina. For a breathtaking view of the Medina and the city of Fes, we will visit a medieval fortification in the mid evening. At your Riad, you spend the night.

Day 6: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga

Following breakfast, we travel to Ifrane. The city is well known for its frigid climate and Alpine-style houses. Our next stop is the cedar forest, home of the Barbary macaques. Later, we’ll eat lunch in Midelt. We travel to Merzouga over the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the Ziz valley after pausing for magnificent views.

Merzouga offers camel rides in the Saharan desert. You’ll stop to watch the sunset from the top of a tall dune. When you finally get to the camp, it mixes a hotel’s grandeur with a nomadic camp’s simplicity. Take in the rhythm of the Berber drums while staring up at the stars under a wide open sky. Your tent in the desert is where you’ll have dinner.

Day 7: Merzouga – Khamlia – Flamingo Lake – Erg Chebbi

Get up early to see the dawn in the middle of the desert. After breakfast, ride camels back to Merzouga to explore the region. Beautiful features of the area include magnificent oasis, natural lakes, mines, and fossil locations.

We’re going to an old eyeliner mine through a gravel route. To study the nomads, we go to their hand-made tents. As you enjoy your tea, learn more about their way of life. Our next stop is the Khamlia village, where we’ll see performances of Gnaoua music and dancing. Its residents are primarily from Sub-Saharan Africa.

We’ll take a stroll through the palm tree forest after lunch before making a short trip to Flamingo Lake, a wild lake in Merzouga. Dinner will be served at your hotel.

Day 8: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

We leave the desert to see Rissani town, the previous seat of the Tafilalet authority. Rissani is still a key trading center in the region, with a lively souk most days of the week.

We fly to Erfoud to visit one of the marble factories after visiting the Souk. Then, via the Touroug and Tinjdad palm plantations, we go to the Todra Gorges. The Todra River’s flow has carved a beautiful tunnel through the mountains, creating a valley with soaring red rock walls.

After lunch, we go via Boumalne Dades to the Dades valley. It is impossible to avoid stopping at the “monkey fingers” mountain range with a sight of the Dades valley. In the end, eat and stay overnight in a nearby hotel.

Day 9: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, we travel to Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley. Locals sell goods with roses on them at the Rose Festival in May. Our next visit is Skoura’s palm orchards. We arrive to Ouarzazate, commonly known as the Desert Gate, at last. We’ll tour the film studios where renowned motion pictures were created.

We make our way to Ait Benhaddou’s Kasbah. It’s a fortified village that has been put on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Movies have also portrayed the Kasbah. On our trip to Marrakech, we cross the Tizi-N-Tichka bridge and the magnificent High Atlas Mountains. There will be frequent lunch breaks and picture opportunities at interesting places. Finally, we arrive in Marrakech and spend the night in a Riad.

Day 10: Marrakech City Tour

The Saadian Tombs, where the founders of the Saadi dynasty are buried, the Bahia Palace, the old house of the vizier, the Koutoubia Mosque, built in the 12th century by the Almouhad dynasty and featuring a majestic tower, the Madrasa Ben Youssef, and Jamaa Elfna are all included in our guided tour of Marrakech you have in this Sahara Tour from Casablanca.

In the late afternoon, we will leave the ancient medina to visit Majorelle’s magnificent botanical gardens. Spend the night in a hotel or a riad.

Day 11: Marrakech – Essaouira

We travel to Essaouira in the west after breakfast. Along the way, we’ll pause to take in the panoramic views, the Argan trees, and the goats. Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, is one of Morocco’s major beach cities.

The medieval Medina, the ancient fortifications with cannons, and the fishing harbor are all highlights on this Sahara tour from Casablanca. Return at last to the hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 12: Essaouira – Casablanca

We’ll drive you to the airport in Casablanca from Essaouira via the coastal route to end the Sahara Tour from Casablanca.
