Itinerary of the Morocco Desert Tour from Casablanca

Day 1: Arrival to Casablanca

Get ready to start your Morocco Desert Tour from Casablanca! In Casablanca, we will pick you up from the airport, the port, or your lodging. Casablanca is Morocco’s economic and cultural hub, as well as its largest city.

First, we’ll go to the Hassan I mosque, Morocco’s largest mosque, which is located on the city’s western outskirts. It is located on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After a lunch break, we’ll tour the city and pay a visit to Casablanca’s spectacular seaside. The night will be spent in a hotel.

Day 2: Casablanca – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Leave Casablanca after breakfast to go to the ancient Roman remains of Volubilis. It has been properly kept because it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features several exquisite mosaics spread throughout, as well as old pillars and archways.

On this Morocco Desert Tour from Casablanca, we will travel 30 kilometers after walking through the remains to Meknes, the Ismaili capital and one of the imperial towns. We’ll go to Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani basin, Royal stables, and granary. As well as the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Then, we’re off to Fes where we’ll stay at a Riad for the night.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar forest – Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga Sahara

We go south through Imouzzer after breakfast to see Ifrane. The city is well-known for its cold temperatures, snow, and alpine-style architecture. Then, we go to the cedar forest, where the Barbary macaques dwell. While exploring the jungle, feel free to feed them.

Later, we’ll go to Midelt, where we’ll have some free time for lunch. We travel to Merzouga over the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the Ziz valley, stopping for panoramic vistas along the way. Then, in the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara desert of Merzouga where you will ride camels to traverse the desert. You will pause on top of a high dune to watch the sunset.

Finally, you proceed to the camp. It is a hybrid of traditional nomadic tents and the elegance of a hotel. You will listen to Berber drum music while dancing around a bonfire beneath a huge open sky full of stars. You will have dinner and sleep at a desert camp.

Day 4: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

It’s a necessity to get up early in the morning to see the stunning sunrise in the middle of the desert.
You will return to Merzouga on camels, where the driver awaits. Then, we leave the desert to explore Rissani, Tafilalet’s old capital. Rissani is an important commercial hub in the area.

After a tour around Rissani souk, we travel to Erfoud and visit one of the fossilized marble factories. Then we travel through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra River’s flow has built a spectacular red cliff-sided canyon across the mountains. These gorges are perfect for rock climbers. Feel free to roam around the gorges and take in the scenery.

After a lunch break, we proceed to the Dades valley, passing via Boumalne Dades. Following that, there are unavoidable stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and for a glimpse of the Dades valley. Finally, dinner and a motel stay.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Telouet – High Atlas

We continue our journey to Kalaat Magouna, where we will explore the Rose Valley. In May, there is a Rose Festival in which the natives sell rose items. We next travel via Skoura’s palm orchards to Ouarzazate, where we visit the studios where great films were made.

We depart towards Ait Benhaddou’s famed Kasbah. It is a fortified settlement designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It has appeared in several films such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and others, as well as television shows such as Game of Thrones.

We drive to Marrakech through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Stops will be made for lunch and photographing fascinating locations. Finally, we arrive at Marrakech to drop you off at the airport or your accommodation. That ends our Morocco Desert Tour from Casablanca.
