Itinerary of the Desert Tour from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate

The Desert Tour from Marrakech begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your Marrakech accommodation. After crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, continue on to the beautiful High Atlas highlands.

Following that, we travel to the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a walled town designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Kasbah has also been featured in several films and television shows, including Game of Thrones. Then, we go to “The Gate of the Desert,” Ouarzazate, for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Agdz – Draa Valley – Nkob – Rissani – Merzouga

We go touring in Ouarzazate after breakfast. First, we visit Atlas Studios, where numerous films were produced. Then, proceed to the Taourirt Kasbah, a fortified mud stronghold. We’ll go to Agdz and enter Morocco’s longest river, the Draa.

After lunch in Nkob or Alnif, we go to Merzouga via Rissani. When we get to the Erg Chebbi dunes, we switch on camels and travel the Sahara desert to see the stunning sunset.

Continue to the camp, which is a cross between nomad tents and hotel magnificence. Enjoy the Berber culture at the campground by dancing around the campfire under an open sky full of beautiful stars. Dinner and an overnight stay are both included.

Day 3: Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – Palm Grove

Seeing the spectacular dawn over the desert in the morning is a must, followed by a typical Moroccan breakfast. When you return to Merzouga riding camels, the driver will be waiting for you. The day is spent exploring the Merzouga region.

In addition, there are dunes, natural lakes, mines, and fossil sites in the vicinity, as well as a lovely oasis. These are fantastic spots for a range of outdoor activities.

We begin our excursion in Merzouga by going off-road to an ancient eyeliner mine. We later observe nomads in their homemade tents. Enjoy a cup of Berber tea while learning about their way of life! Our next destination will be the Khamlia hamlet, where you will hear Gnaoua music.

After lunch, we discover the palm tree grove. We next explore Flamingo Lake, a wild lake near Merzouga. After dinner, spend the night in a hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todgha gorges – Dades valley

On the third day of our Desert Tour from Marrakech, we leave the desert after breakfast to explore Rissani Town, the historical capital of Tafilalet. Rissani, with its bustling souk, is an important commercial hub in the region.

After seeing Rissani Souk, we travel to Erfoud to see one of the fossilized marble workshops. We go through the Touroug and Tinjdad palm fields to reach the Todra Gorges. The path of the Todra river has built a large canyon through the mountains, with red rock sides. Climbers will like these gorges.

We proceed to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades after lunch. We’ll take a break at the “monkey fingers” rock formation, which offers views of the Dades Valley. Dinner with a night’s stay are at a hotel.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Amridil Kasbah – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

We will visit the Rose Valley on the final day of your Desert Tour from Marrakech. A Rose Festival is held in May, where residents offer rose-related things such as perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetics.

We pass by additional Kasbahs, such as Amridil Kasbah, which is surrounded by Skoura’s palm tree forest. For lunch, we arrive at Ouarzazate. Then we travel to Marrakech, passing via the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains.

Last but not least, we will deliver you to your hotel or the Marrakech airport. The Desert Tour from Marrakech has concluded.
