You will have a peek of the Moroccan Sahara Desert life during our 4-Day Desert Trip from Marrakech to Merzouga. In addition, you will spend the night in the Merzouga and Erg Chebbi and ride camels across its dunes.
The Desert Trip from Marrakech to Merzouga begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your Marrakech hotel. Later, visit the stunning High Atlas mountains after traveling across the Tizi-N-Tichka pass.
Following that, we proceed to the well-known Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has also appeared in a number of films and television series, including Game of Thrones.
Then, we proceed to “The gate of the desert” Ouarzazate. We’ll continue to view the Rose Valley after lunch, traveling via Skoura’s large palm grove. Our overnight destination is Boumalne Dades, which we drive to at the end.
After breakfast, we go sightseeing in Ouarzazate. First, we go to the Atlas Studios, where many renowned films were made. Then go to the Taourirt Kasbah, which is an old fortified mud fortress. Following that, we will go to Agdz and enter the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river.
We proceed to the Sahara desert of Merzouga through Rissani after lunch at Nkob or Alnif. When we arrive at the Erg Chebbi dunes, we change to camels to cross the Sahara desert. You will be taken to the top of a large dune to witness the spectacular sunset.
Then proceed to the camp, which is a hybrid of traditional nomad tents and the elegance of a hotel. You may appreciate the Berber culture at the campground whilst dancing around the campfire beneath an open sky filled with sparkling stars. Dinner and an overnight stay in the camp are included.
After breakfast on the third day of our Desert Trip from Marrakech to Merzouga, we depart the desert to visit Rissani Town, the former capital of Tafilalet. Rissani, with its busy souk, is a vital commerce center in the region.
Following a tour to Rissani Souk, we head to Erfoud to visit one of the fossilized marble workshops. We proceed through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra river’s course has carved a vast canyon through the mountains, with red cliff sides. Rock climbers will love these gorges.
After lunch, we travel to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades. We’ll stop at the “monkey fingers” rock formation with views of the Dades Valley. Dinner and an overnight stay await you in a hotel.
On the final day of your Desert Trip from Marrakech to Merzouga, we will go to Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley. In May, there is a Rose Festival where locals sell rose items such as fragrances, rose water, oil, and cosmetics.
We drive by other Kasbahs, including Amridil Kasbah, which is bordered by Skoura’s palm tree grove. We arrive in Ouarzazate for lunch. Then, we drive to Marrakech over the Tizi-N-Tichka crossing and the High Atlas Mountains.
Finally, we will drop you off at your hotel or the airport in Marrakech. The Desert Trip from Marrakech to Merzouga has come to an end.
